Florida

In the fall of 2023, I took a short trip to Florida. It was my first time getting to explore the Orlando area outside of the theme parks. Then, for 3 months in 2024, I was an intern with Archbold Biological Institute and was able to spend both my time in the field and outside work photographing. I was able to see endemics, such as the Florida Grasshopper Sparrow and the Florida Scrub Jay. I also took trips to the Everglades, Merritt Island, and various wetlands and birding hotspots around central Florida. My time was cut short in the state as I moved back up to Maine for graduate school, but I hope to one day return to see some of the incredible wildlife you won’t see anywhere else in the country.
